Salisbury Playhouse

Salisbury Playhouse is one of Britain's leading producing theatres, with a national reputation for homegrown work of the highest quality that attracts audiences from across the South West.

The building comprises the 517-seat Main House, 149-seat Salberg Studio, a purpose-built Rehearsal Room and a Community & Education Space. There is also an on-site scenery workshop, wardrobe and props store.

The Playhouse's programme is wide-ranging. Main House productions are almost entirely our own or co-produced, while the visiting work brings the very best from the UK, including Out of Joint, Headlong and Kneehigh.

Recent productions have included the premieres of Dario Fo's Low Pay? Don't Pay!, adapted by Joseph Farrell and Michael Morpurgo's Toro! Toro! adapted by Simon Reade (TMA Award nomination for Best Children's Production), as well as a co-production with Shared Experience of Tennessee Williams' The Glass Menagerie starring Imogen Stubbs. Artistic Director Philip Wilson's production of Philip Massinger's The Picture received high praise from audiences and critics alike, including The Daily Telegraph's Charles Spencer, who wrote: "How splendid it is to discover Salisbury Playhouse refusing to play safe as budget cuts threaten our regional theatres".
